The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced this afternoon that it has lowered the federal ozone primary 8-hour standard to 0.075 parts per million (ppm) and the new secondary standard is set at a form and level identical to the primary standard. The previous primary and secondary standards were identical 8-hour standards, set at 0.08 ppm.
A Houston-Galveston-Brazoria (HGB) Eight-Hour Ozone SIP Stakeholder Group is being formed to discuss the development of the HGB Eight-Hour Ozone SIP and to seek public input on potential control strategies for the area. Initial meetings will be held in Houston on March 25 and 26, 2008. The HGB Eight-Hour Ozone SIP Stakeholder Group is open to the public; therefore, anyone who wishes to join the group may attend the meetings.
