Civil Justice
TCC continues to support efforts to make workers' compensation the sole remedy at multiple employer work sites. TCC will also continue to support legislation that closes any loopholes in Texas law that would allow an injured worker to collect more for the same injury by suing both the employer and a parent or sister corporation of the employer. TCC supports legislation that permits the Texas Supreme Court to create special courts and/or assign cases to specific courts in matters requiring medical or technical expertise. TCC supports legislation that creates a mechanism for the non-partisan merit selection and retention electionn of qualified judges. TCC opposes legislation that restricts the ability of private parties to contract.

Site Security & Emergency Management
TCC supports voluntary industry programs to ensure that chemical manufacturing facilities are kept safe. TCC supports efforts to clarify the law relating to plant closures duing emergencies and evacuations. TCC supports legislation that will maintain an employer's ability to control the workplace and ensure a safe working environment. TCC also supports the right of employers to protect their employees, customers, suppliers and visitors by prohibiting firearms where it is unsafe for the public health and safety.

Transportation
TCC supports public policies that create, where appropriate, accessibility to railroad lines through competition. TCC supports competitive pricing for "captive shippers" and access to railroad care sufficient to meet the needs of shippers.

Workforce Development
The chemical industry in Texas supports nearly 500,000 jobs. A qualified and prepared workforce is critical to maintaining efficient and safe production at chemical manufacturing facilities. TCC supports training programs for High School and Junior College students aimed at incentivizing graduation from the high school level and further providing students the skills they need to secure a career in industry.
