Charge
To effectively manage all issues relating to occupational safety, subject to approval through normal channels, by: 

  • Providing a forum for the free exchange of information about all aspects of the safety field among a group of highly trained and strongly motivated safety professionals; 
  • Helping participants keep abreast of the latest trends in safety technology and regulatory activities, and assessing the impact of these trends on the profession and our industry; 
  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory proposals and providing expertise on issues involving safety, including preparation of testimony when requested; 
  • Monitoring legislative developments either referred to the committee by staff or identified by the committee, by advising staff as to the proposed position of TCC, preparing or assisting in the preparation of comments or testimony, and securing technical witnesses when requested; 
  • Commenting on OSHA standards as needed; 
  • Promoting educational opportunities in the regulatory and safety areas for management, employees, and the community, and providing TCC revenue enhancement through continuing seminars; 
  • Encouraging continuous improvement in safety performance by the chemical industry by conduction periodic surveys of safety performance among member companies and providing special recognition for outstanding performance; 
  • Coordinating with the Communications Committee to publicize the Texas chemical industry's safety record; and 
  • Acting as a liaison with such national bodies as the American Chemistry Council, the National Fire Protection association, and others.
