Charge
To effectively manage all issues relating to health, both employee and public, including but not limited to risk assessment, subject to approval through normal channels, by:
- Monitoring the activities of the Texas Department of Health and, when appropriate, other relevant agencies; Responding to regulatory developments of, including initiating regulatory proposals to, the TDH and any other entities which fall within the relevant subject area and affect the chemical industry in Texas by direct communications, preparation of comments and testimony for rulemakings, and securing technical witnesses when appropriate;
- Responding to legislative developments either referred to the committee by staff or identified by the committee, by advising staff as to the proposed position of TCC, preparing or assisting in the preparation of comments or testimony, and securing technical witnesses when requested;
- Preparing or assisting in the preparation of appropriate position statements or background documents for use by member companies or staff, including but not limited to assistance in the communications function; and
- Fulfilling other responsibilities delegated to the committee by the board, the Executive Committee, including participating in relevant projects for the revenue enhancement function.

The “Member-at-Large” position is very important in learning how the Executive Steering Committee operates. It is viewed as succession planning if one of the subcommittee Chairs becomes vacant. The “Member-at-Large” may be asked to assist specific committees, on an 'ad hoc' basis, for any number of issues or items such as but not limited to: helping on committee assignments, filling in for the subcommittee Chair for updates, or attending meetings as their representative.
