AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Chemical Council (TCC) and the Association of Chemical Industry of Texas (ACIT) are proud to announce the recipient of the TCC/ACIT Chemicals and the Environment Science Teachers Alumni Award. The award recognizes and honors teaching excellence and the exceptional promotion of science and environmental literacy to Texas students. The award was presented recently at the 18th annual TCC/ACIT Science Teachers Institute Panel Discussion and Recognition Luncheon to Laurie Heron-Beaulieu.

Ms. Heron-Beaulieu attended the Institute in 2006 and proved who have done an outstanding job of using and disseminating information and ideas gained through the Institute.  Each recipient received a memento and a monetary award for $1000.

More than 40 science teachers from around the state participated in this year’s Institute, held at the University of Houston. The Institute featured a 10-day curriculum designed to improve chemical and environmental education in Texas. The curriculum includes facility tours, presentations and a question-&-answer panel discussion with regulator agency personnel, environmental advocates and industry representatives.
