As a Partner in the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Clean Texas program, Texas Chemical Council encourages all its member companies to participate as program members, committed to fulfilling the requirements of membership:
- Reduce chemical releases tracked by the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) program,
- Implement an internal environmental management program to assure high levels of environmental compliance with state and federal standards;
- Create a citizens' communication program; and
- Participate in one or more community environmental projects every year.
Texas Chemical Council and its member companies also engage in practices which protect the environment. These environmental practices:
- Conserve natural resources and cultivate environmentally responsible business activities;
- Foster product stewardship and responsible waste handling;
- Extend knowledge by supporting research concerning the environmental, health, and safety consequences of industry activities;
- Provide for cooperation with government and others regarding the development of and compliance with laws, regulations, and standards based upon sound scientific principles;
- Support other societal environmental goals, like recycling and the protection of vital habitats, wetlands, and endangered species;
- Promote continuous progress in waste and release reduction, giving priority to source reduction, recycling/reuse, and treatment as a way of doing business; and
- Quantify and report environmental progress regularly.
